Re: Solidoodle Design Deficiencies

elmoret,

My Solidoodle 3's Heat bed lasted 1 day. I had been testing settings trying to get slicer dialed in, so none of my prints exceeded 1 hr (I only ran a few prints, single layer to get my extruder, x and y axis dialed in, as well as my Z-stop). So it didn't see any high duty cycles during the prints, not sure why the heat bed failed so quickly, but it might lend some credence to your theory. I'll try to put a fan back there and see if that doesnt help. I'll look into resistors, but I'm not an electronics guru, so I'll need to get some help there. Machine seemed to be performing solidly, and we all know that these kit printers require tinkering an improvements, so I dont view solidoodle in a dim light (still waiting on a reply from support). I think a topic like this just helps us all with our machines. I know it opened my eyes to what I might be able to improve upon and what needs extra cooling.

Re: Solidoodle Design Deficiencies

Just got a call back from solidoodle, they're sending me a new bed out. From the time I sent the email to the time I got the call, it probably too about 4 1/2 hrs, so thats pretty good in my opinion. Sucks that the bed was defective, but at the same time, their response time was better than I've typically gotten with entry level electronics vendors, so thats a plus.
