Topic: how low can extruder temp go? SD3

I just switched from black ABS to red ABS and i can see my temps are way off.  The red seems to want to run at a lower temp but i'm wondering just how low i can go.  I run the black ABS between 195 and 200.  I have the red ABS all the way down to 174 and it seems like it can go lower.  I just don't want to clog my nozzle.  Will RH shut down if i set the temp to low?  Another thing i've noticed about the red is that it's stringier.  Other than temps, what can i do to help with that?  speeds possibly?  Faster or slower?

well i found the low temp.. the extruder stepper starts skipping around 168

I think on the SD RH the min. extrusion temp is 160?? but I might be remembering wrong smile you won't clog by going to low but it will dig into the filament... as you found out... just make sure and clean off the drive wheel with a small stiff brush or it will tend to skip even when it is hotter. To combat the stringiness you could up the retract setting in RH just a bit, are you sure it is ABS?

I feel like there must be something wrong with my solidoodle, as I typically have to run it above 210 or it skips.  Everything is stock, but there is a tile clamped on the bed and it also has a chamber.  It's always been this way.  Just using white ABS.

It works perfectly, it just seems that I always have to run my temps way higher then everyone else does.

That's what i ordered and that's what the spool says on it.  That was the first thing I checked when I switched to it and realized it needed a lower temp.

I ended up settling on a temp of 185 but i've also determined i really need an extruder fan.  The part i was printing looked like crap when i printed only one of them, but as soon as i printed 10 at a time they came out beautiful.  I'mm pretty sure that has to do with the cooling time between layers.  A fan should fix that when i dont have the advantage of running multiple copies of the same small print at once.  Now i need to find a fan mount that will fit the stock SD3 extruder.
