Topic: chinese low cost hot end

i put this in the francophone section, but i think it can be a good idea to put it here also..

for information, i bought this hot end for 19$.. you can put it on the original "screw tube'..

it use standard ultimaker/makerbot nozzle end.. (i choose a 0.4mm..)

the thermistor is a standard 100k like the original one... i put in place ... same for the head heater.. (strandard 12v heater)

it's well build...  but we lost 2 or 3 cm... but it think you can cut the original "screw tube" to take it back..

you can found this head on all chinese import site like dealextreme/ goodluckbuy/ aliexpress ...

i think it's a good choice if you didn't want to change all your extruder, but just changed a broken original nichrome..

Beware.. this one use a thermocouple and not the thermistor.. so you need to change the firmware to use the good heat table..

Can you plug a thermocouple into pins meant for a thermistor?  Is a firmware change all that is needed, or does there need to be a hardware change as well?

Hardware change is needed. You need a amplifier/signal conditioner, like the AD595.
