Re: Looking to replace SD3 Hotend

It's not worth that price to replace the stock PEEK with another.

Many on this forum have endorsed the all-metal E3D, and you can add me to that list with this posting.

Re: Looking to replace SD3 Hotend

I had some good luck with the printrbot ceramic extruder but it isn't a drop in replacement. you will need to switch to lawsy's mk4 or mk5 jigsaw replacement

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

Yep, that's it. The connectors obviously aren't the same so you will need to put new ones on. You will have to do that for any hotend you get though except the OEM.

It is also longer than the stock hotend so you will need a longer screw for the Z index screw. I used this hotend for quite a while before I got my E3D.
