Topic: No strings attached - automatic nozzle scrubber

This is a bad photo of a piece of pipe cleaner that is clamped between the glass bed and aluminum platform. Both ends are curled up to cross each other right where the nozzle moves to/from the Park position. I use the Dr. Grabow brand with the stiff bristles (there is also a fuzzy type but I don't think it would work as well).

Works like a charm.

Clever.

I do similar with a small self-adhesive Velcro square and some custom start gcode to move up to to the wipe pad and then across. Works great for removing the heat-up drool.

Oh, Gawd, RONSII! We've been through this what, a dozen times? How long have you known me? Have I ever led you astray? Hell no!

All we have to do now is figure out a way to get some Kapton in there. Can't have a damn mod without Kapton, can we? Maybe we could Kapton a little sign with an arrow that says "Pipe Cleaner - don't ask".  ;^)

Yea, I did that. Tired of my nylon block loosening up and have the extruder pitch forward on fast moves.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

Pretty soon you're going to need some auxiliary power to move that head around.  smile
