Ok, so it's done by printing in clear, then when it starts to outline the text you pause the print and change your filament out for black. First time I homed the axis' and the print head crashed into the print stuffing up the alignment. I've found if you want to try this method put the print head above the print and give a bit of clearance in Z axis. It will then move in X and Y, then move down Z to meet the print.
The LED's are just 12V LED lighting strips I get in a roll of 5m (ebay). You can cut them every 3 LEDs and just solder on wires for power. They are also available in multi colour with a remote to change the colour and do patterns like fade in out, change colour flash etc. I love how easy they are to use, and would probably put them on my cereal if they were edible. I designed this lamp with them. Perfect for that sultry jazz/blues mood lighting
