Topic: Azteeg Board Upgrade Advice

I ordered the Azteeg X3 board and wondered if there is a simple upgrade guide for the SD3 with step-by-step photos for the layman.  I looked at the post previously posted (http://www.soliforum.com/topic/377/upgr … azteeg-x3/), but it's links upon links and it mentions there are different firmwares to use and you have the modify them (but if the firmwares have different "defines" to modify I'm not sure if I'm using the compiler right.  I'm not that knowledgable with programming and I want to make sure I will be wiring it right using photos instead of schematics.  I'm also using a MAC and most of the instructions are mean primarily for Windows.  After that do I use the same Solidoodle "profile" in Repetier that I used before?  Next, I would like to know how to adapt the Helios board to the SD3 (bare in made I am unable to print any kind of adapters at this point!

Re: Azteeg Board Upgrade Advice

Don't do it. If your current board works, DO NOT bother upgrading. I am having a bad time with this X3 and the worst part about it is that there is no "official" documentation on how to do this. Ian's post is OK but he is pretty damn good when it comes to this. I looked all over for info on how to do this right and I was quite confidant after reading up on this for the two weeks I waited to get this board. However, I think I am better off trying to fix my stock Sanguino.

Re: Azteeg Board Upgrade Advice

I'm way past the point of no return now.  What I tried to do the mods to the original board to accommodate a PCB heatbead I ended up ruining a couple to traces trying to remove components.  I just got the X3 board in, but I'm waiting on them to ship me the headers they forgot to ship.

Good luck. You'll need it.

I also ordered the Azteeg X3 and the Hielos heat-bead ( my original bed is warped)
I ordered the board with screw terminals.
what wire gauge do you recommend I use on the bed, head and thermistor runs?
