Rustoleum Oil  Rubbed Bronze.

He's sitting under a bright light so the metallic effect of the paint is more pronounced,in the display case it gives the appearance of an oiled bronze sculpture.

I feel detail is harder for the eye to pick out if the print is left a high gloss so I've gone to satin finish Rustoleum paints to do my .1mm prints. The detail of his face mask and chest emblem were hard to make out in gloss abs but "popped" when painted.

There are a few very minor ridges if you take a hard look but I wasn't about to chance a 2nd exposure to the vapor and make a good looking print go "fubar".

Thanks,
Not only a bust, their satin finish paints will bring out details you'd miss on any print in gloss ABS.

A word of advice I've learned working with these paints, after the vapor bath let the print air dry and cure for at least 24hrs regardless if you think it's dry enough.Even though it's safe to use on ABS,the paint solvents will react with an un-cured print and cause a degree of crazing.

I learned that lesson with my Ben Franklin Bust,I painted him after 4hrs because it "felt" cured. After the paint dried there was some crazing of the plastic on his left lapel. Not enough to trash the print but enough to p*ss me off on an otherwise good print.

I let the Dark Knight cure at least 24hrs and results are evident.

Re: The Dark Knight

Just to clarify a point before someone ruins a print and blames me.

Rustoleum has different types of "Oil rubbed Bronze" and other satin finish spray paints, some might not be compatible with ABS.

Please read the label and make sure it clearly states it can be used with plastic.

This is what I used:
