Topic: extruder motor turns in wrong direction

I posted here before and go no answer.

So far.

I realized that the extruder was clogged. In removing the barrel and hot end, I damaged acrylic parts. I order new acrylic parts.

I ordered new nozzle and heater. In attempting to remove the nozzle, I damaged the "putty" insulation on the heater... I would not screw off and cracked apart.

I got the new nozzle and heater. The new heater is now an aluminum part with electric wires coming out. The only video on replacing the heater is the old style.

Taping the thermistor to the nozzle was frustrating. I finally got it to stay in place.

However.. all this and the extruder motor only rotates in the reverse direction. Doesn't matter if I press the extrude button or the reverse button. Does matter if I run Pronterface or Repeir Host... same result...

With no filament in the printer... software running to get heater to extrude tempterature. No tension on the bearing thing...

motor only goes in reverse direction.

What is the problem?

Thanks in advance.

Re: extruder motor turns in wrong direction

So when you say it only goes in the reverse direction... do you mean that even when you click on forward/extrude it also moves in reverse or does not move? if it does not move does it make any noise at all? make sure all the wires from that stepper are attached to the main board. One thing you can do for troubleshooting if you have the old m/b is switch around the driver modules on the newer m/b you will have to swap around the stepper motor wires...

Re: extruder motor turns in wrong direction

The extruder motor rotates in the "reverse" (extract filament) direction whether I click extrude or reverse on-screen button.

What would make that happen? bad chip? bad controller board? I don't know how to rewrite the software to make things work correctly again.

I must be the first one to experience this difficulty.

I thought about reversing stepping wires to test... i.e., use the x-axis wires to the control the extruder motor..

still up in the air... and not printing...

oh well.
