Topic: unable to update firmware on SD3

I've tried updating multiple times over the last 24hrs, both ways and this is the error code I get each time.

Binary sketch size: 49224 bytes (of a 63488 byte maximum)
avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00
avrdude: stk500_disable(): protocol error, expect=0x14, resp=0x51

any ideas?

Re: unable to update firmware on SD3

When I update my firmware I have to do it a bit differently than Ian's video. I have to push and hold the reset button for a second then release, then hit upload. There's several threads on here about updating issues, some requiring new chips.

E3D-v4 Hotend, MK5 carriage with round plastic wire conduit , 3/16" tempered glass,  Well nut, SureStepr SD8825 1/32 Extruder Driver, PowerEdge 2650 500W PS, QU-BD heated bed, circuit board fan, hinged plexiglass enclosure with plastic tray top. Other than that mostly stock SD3

do you have the Sanguinololu or printrboard? ^ It looks like you are using the Sanguino w/ 644P . If you have a new printer then this is not going to work for you.

http://reprap.org/wiki/Printrboard#Compatible_Firmware

If you do in fact have the sanguinololu then a couple questions...

What version of Arduino are you using?

1.0.5 works http://arduino.cc/en/Main/Software

Make sure you use the latest libraries. Try using the firmware from lawsy's or adrians github

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.
