Topic: Minimum PC specs to run solidoodle
Hi,
I'm still waiting for my SD2 Pro Model to arrive and been researching on how to make the printer a standalone system. I know that solidoodle needs to be tethered to a laptop or pc while printing. There's alot of options out there in forums (panelou sd card, raspberry pi, etc.)
But it's all some serious hacks and mods which I'm not good at. So, I'm thinking of getting this very cheap $50 2nd hand netbook to make as a dedicated computer for the Solidoodle 2.
What is the minimum specs to run the solidoodle 2? Will this work?
Kohjinsha Netbook
Microsoft® Windows XP Home Edition
Processor by AMD PCS 498 MHz,
504 MB of RAM
USB 2.0 port x 2
Bluetooth Ver,2.0+EDR
Wireless LAN: IEEE802.11 b/g
7" Wide TFT Color LCD (LED Back light) with Touch Screen
Resolution (standard display) WVGA (1024×600)
I'm also thinking this netbook is a small foldable touchscreen so I can mount it nicely on my SD2 and just use the touchscreen while the keyboard is folded at the back.
Also, does a netbook consumes less power than a normal laptop/pc?
