James,
We would be happy to refund your order, but may we offer you an expedited order? We would be more than happy to ship your printer this Monday.

Regards,
John

I told them i would just like my money back. They told me it would be sent back via PayPal. Today i still had not received it so i sent another asking when it would happen.

It looks like miscommunication between John and Cliff as to what you wanted before.

Lawsy did a great job here!

Jaw. Floor.
That is a great tut, printing it now. Thanks so much, but I have a question, did Lawsy do this for fun?

I think we all like to contribute as much as we can to the community!  It is fun being involved and with crowd sourcing improvements we've really made great strides in making the printer much better and a pleasure to use.  There a slew of printed improvements, firmware updates, accessory options, and more if you look through this forum... You'll be addicted in no time!  If you don't want to wait for the replacement acrylic, you can superglue those pieces back together... My pieces have been cracked since July and I've had about a thousand successful prints with them.  smile

Re: Orders Shipping List

I had a stray bit of filament floating down in the extruder. When I did the guide it was bloody confusing the first time. It wasn't until the third time that it went together the right way and I could then repeat it with photos.

I was informed that my Solidoodle order, number 2012, ordered on 6/12/2012, shipped today

This is absolutely depressing to read. Oh you want a refund? How about your printer next week instead....this is getting out of hand

Wait what?! So you just emailing them saying you want your money back was enough for them to offer you a jump forward in the waiting line? Have they offered this option to every person that states they want their money back?

Re: Orders Shipping List

Its been about 5-6 days and still havent received my money back. Sad when you give your money in good faith to a company with the knowledge that itll be 8-10 weeks before you receive the items. Then when it takes longer than promised you cancel and it takes days to get your money back. Its PayPal. Press the damn button and send me my money back lol.

I was still on the fence about canceling until they offered me a printer expedited. Kind of chicken shit to do that to all your other customers.

i feel like a jerk but with underbolt i'm kind of happy he turned down thier offer means i get my printer 1 printer sooner

Yeah, extremely unfair. I would like to hear what the official "Solidoodle support" has to say on this matter...

Re: Orders Shipping List

There are customers which are willing to help a company to develop. When I ordered my solidoodle, they didn't even mention (in the shop) that they didn't even start the prodiction yet. 3D Printers are, compared with computers, on the level of an apple2. So stop complaining all the time... you have the ability to be ambassadors without much effort. You don't have to gather parts, you don't have to build it up,...

It's not fair to get people a better place in line, but this is what you would do if you have NO EXPERIENCE.

You act like it's a fortune 500 company.

Everybody chill,... basically they are some hacking dudes, which thought about selling their stuff.

(I know it's easy to talk like that,... but please, calm down)

Aldo, I am very calm, but I disagree anyway. I understand that the company is small, but this doesn't mean that they don't have obligations towards their customers. I didn't give my money to a friend to support his cool project, I sent my money overseas, to some dudes I never heard of before, for something that was not even in production yet... I think I gave them my fair share of trust, and I am quite disappointed that this trust has not been repaid with honesty. This is not the way to go. Other small companies had difficulties, this is normal: for example the Raspberry PI foundation, but they never asked for money in advance, and they always kept their potential customers up to date with details and problems. I still believe that Solidoodle is a great thing, and that the folks are doing a great job, but I am also not happy by how they are handling customer relations (even though I admit a nice sign of improvement in their last update). It's not a matter of size or age of the company, it's a problem of mentality of the people.

I thought about doing that! But didn't think it'd be a good idea. I will go for it when I get home. Did you have to take it apart to glue it back together, or did you leave it somewhat bolted in to do it??
Oh, and thanks to all the contributors on this site for all the input that has been provided. It was primarily this site that has made the wait time much easier. I have visited this site literally every day since it has been up!

Someday we'll all look back on this thread and laugh, saying remember way back in the beginning when they couldn't make them fast enough?  Except for underjolt, he strikes me as the kind of person that will never be happy.  Standing on your soapbox complaining about lead times and how long it's going to take to get your printer, publicly announcing that you've tired of the wait and were going to cancel the order.  But when they reach out to you and offer you the holy grail of customer service and ship you a unit immediately, you are somehow even more offended.  What course of action would have pleased you, short of magically being able to ship 1000 printers out overnight so you don't cut in line?

Don't get me wrong, I understand your frustration.  But given the opportunity to cut in line I think most would take it, say thank you and keep it to themselves.  I know I would have.   Cancelling your order only moves some lucky SOB up in line, and the only one that suffers for it is you by not having this piece of technology in your home to enjoy.  You're not teaching them a lesson that they don't already know, you're just complaining for complaining's sake at this point.

I'll say it again, it's worth the wait

As a lucky SOB slightly higher in the line, thank you for canceling, underjolt smile

Re: Orders Shipping List

So if I demand a refund - take their skip-the-que-offer, and an hour later order a new printer, from another adress, mentioning it is a christmas present

I will get two printers sent to me, right away?!

Hunkey Dorey! Is that appropriate?

Re: Orders Shipping List

I hope I'm not offending anyone, - but it would be nice if these printers where not obsolete technology by the time we got our gullible hands on them - just saying

Why would they be obsolete?

344

Re: Orders Shipping List

I think the point is to exaggerate the massive delays people experience, which is well made.

345

Re: Orders Shipping List

It will be obsolete due to the awesome user designed upgrades.   I'm starting to see the S2 more and more as a well designed basic printer platform.

Re: Orders Shipping List

Order ID: 1921
Date Ordered: 07/06/2012

Your order has been updated to the following status:
Shipped

This is with the heated bed, enclosure and a couple pounds of ABS.

It's coming International Priority Mail to Vancouver, so hopefully avoids the "careful" handling of UPS (as well as their ever-so-lovely brokerage fees).

Despite my frustration with the delay, I respect the Solidoodle team for filling a niche and creating some jobs in the process. I'd respect them even more if they had updated their "8-10 weeks" on their order site over the summer to reflect their actual shipping times. Hopefully they are up to speed now and have many years of successful, rapidly-filled orders to keep their employees busy.

Jason

Hey Jason,

For time reference, I am about an hour away from Vancouver and my printer came in about a week and a half after shipping.

If you don't mind telling us, did you get any type of expedited shipping? I ask because if not, Solidoodle somehow made it through a months worth of orders in 2 days.

I think it was ordered on the 7th of June not on the 6th of July... Sensible European way of writing dates, not the crazy US style smile
