Topic: Heating Printbed Causes Flashing/Power Issues

My Solidoodle 3 had been sitting for a couple of months and I started it up to do a print last night. A couple of hours in I came into the room to find plastic leaking from the side of the extruder and the machine flashing off and on over and over. I shut everything down and after reading around was able to remove the clog and tighten the extruder screw in and everything seems to be working fine there.

However, I went to heat the print bed up for a test print to make sure everything was working and as soon as I clicked "Heat Printbed" the flashing immediately came back leading me to believe there is something wrong in the wiring of the printbed heater, but being a total novice when it comes to hardware I was hoping someone might have an idea of where I can start looking for a solution.

Re: Heating Printbed Causes Flashing/Power Issues

I would check to see if your power supply feels like it is on fire.. I bet it is running a bit hot... Might want to let it cool down for a bit. When you do turn it back on, you will want to monitor the temps of everything carefully. It might be best to unplug it until it has cooled.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

It's not even a little warm. The initial issues happened last night and everything I have done in terms of fixing it happened today. =/

Re: Heating Printbed Causes Flashing/Power Issues

I have a similar issue, I printed last night.. and print went well enough.. when I power on extruder.. it heats up.. when I then add the printbed... the machine shuts down in 2 cycles.. first, Low power.  second.. off and auto restart...

any ideas?
