Topic: Enclosure top panel - best way to feed filament through it?

Hi guys, new guy here. Okay, I just got my 3Gen and am trying to follow all the tips and tricks you fellas have been good enough to provide. I just made enclosure panels of 1/8" clear acrylic, each side and top are "hinged" at the top with a strip of duct tape and velcro tape dots snug it all up pretty good.

So, how do I get the filament through? D'oh!

If I'd thought it through a little more I would have made the top domed or elevated a few inches and fed the filament through the top rear of the lid. Before I rip it off and re-make it, I thought I'd ask how you guys did it, so the filament can feed nicely wherever the extruder goes. (I have the filament roll mounted up on the rear with the new PVC pipe assembly they ship with the printer now).

Weather stripping with a 14" tray, Lawy's filament guide, and either a 1" hole in the back of the tray or cut out a section of the tray. The hole leaves a nice clean look, but will require you remove the filament from the extruder if you want to take it off completely. Otherwise you risk kinking the filament.

A word of caution. The gummed label on the 14" square plastic dish is stuck on with the world's most amazing gum adhesive. I tried several things to get it off ( I notice in the pic above, the gum is still there too).  Hot soapy water didn't work and not alcohol. When I got to Oops! which says it removes gum labels, it dissolved the plastic like acetone. So now my top is all screwy looking instead of clear. Grr. Maybe I'll reorder a dish and try a hair dryer to soften the gum. If I try another chemical like WD-40 or something I will try a dab on my OLD dish first.

I know, it's just a printer but I like to see the workpiece and do take some pride in my stuff. Otherwise, it's a helluvan idea! Thanks again.

I tried alcohol and soap, also, then gave up. I scratched enough off so it doesn't bother the filament anymore. Would like to find something to take it off, but it's been a low priority. Would also like to raise it up a couple inches so the filament doesn't hit.
