Topic: Ceramic Heater Cartridge on SD 2

A simple question for SD 2 owners:

I want to mount a j-head mk5 with  a ceramic heater 12 v 40 w  like this one :

Do I need to change the power unit of the SD2 or is it strong enough for this heater ?

Re: Ceramic Heater Cartridge on SD 2

Have been running the very same 40w heater for seveal months now...zero problems,,,unlike the failed 3 resisitors from solidoodle that lasted about 1 week each!

Re: Ceramic Heater Cartridge on SD 2

So can we just remove the connector to the resistor and then put it on the cartridge heater?  No other wiring necessary?

Re: Ceramic Heater Cartridge on SD 2

As far I can see i would answer : Yes but you must also connect the thermistor of course !
You first  need to change  the connectors of the heater and of the Thermistor,  it's better to use bec connectors, it's easier to find(in RC shop for example).
The original resistor or a ceramic heater can works with the same connector it's just some power flow used for the both.
