SoliForum - 3D Printing Community → Help/Repair/Maintenance → Firmware update issue for SD3 - I think I'm just stupid.
So I've read the step-by-step on how to update the firmware, but I can't figure out how to get the Sanguino board to show up under the Tools => Board dropdown list in the Arduino environment. There doesn't appear to be a Sanguino folder in the Marlin - SD3 update package. Am I missing something?
You need to copy that folder to the Arduino "hardware" directory.
Or just use this Arduino IDE, which already has all minor mods: http://www.mediafire.com/?3qy0wjf86a66du8 (from instructions in https://github.com/mlaws/solidoodle2-marlin).
Yes, I read that. What I'm saying though, is that the Sanguino folder is not in the Marlin update .zip file.
Make sure that you download the Arduino Addons folder from https://github.com/mlaws/solidoodle2-marlin. The sanguino folder is in there.
Ah, sorry I misread -- what lawsy said (they're in a folder parallel, not under Marlin on github), if you already have the IDE. BTW, with Arduino 1.x I sometimes had issues timing the upload/reset dance, but everything always went fine with 022 -- YMMV, though. Good luck!

Ok, so just pull the sanguino folder from the SD2 files and copy it to the SD3 package?
Same firmware for Sd2 and SD3 (but if you have an SD3, you'll need to change the appropriate #define in configuration.h). The directories from ArduinoAddons (choose the ones based on the version of the IDE you have) go into your installation of the Arduino IDE (libraries under the libraries IDE subdirectories, replacing the ones already there, and sanguino under the hardware subdir -- the stock IDE from the arduino website has different versions of the libraries that won't work, and no pre installed support for sanguinololu boards, so you need to add these yourself in the appropriate places).
If you download the IDE from the media fire link, all this is already done for you (on the IDE side, you still need the #define in the firmware). Good luck!
