Topic: Solidoodle won't respond

My 4 month old SD2 shows "printing" at the bottom of known good gcode files, but won't respond. Bed heats, extruder heats, red light on Ardruino, but it just won't go. I tried on another computer, and even uninstalled and reinstalled repetier on one computer. Sometimes it will accrue commands in the info bar and eventually move, but just one or two commands. I have a fan on Ardruino also. I am convinced it is the Ardruino acting up. I NEED to get this thing going. Any thoughts?

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

I will PM my address for the $5. Its on com port 3. I will try to get screenshots posted. I cannot even get manual controls to respond now.

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

O.K., So solidoodle was doing good about emailing me with help, bet now I can't get a response. Here are some screenshots. Basically I get to this stage and it just sits there. If I press buttons it just racks up commands. Sometimes it just stays on building print jobs. I cannot use manual commands either.

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

Does it move around manually when not mid print job?

If so, it might be something in the start gcode it doesn't like and hangs on. Temperature commands are still sent to the printer because they avoid the queue of other commands. That is why you can raise/lower temps in Repetier even when a job is running.

Can you post up the start of the gcode for the file you are trying to print?

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

The first part of the gcode sets the bed temp to 100 deg. If you have the newer Solidoodle with the bed limited to 87 then it will never reach it and the print will never start.

I notice in your early screen shots the bed is at 82, does it ever get any higher?

Try changing the M190 line to target 80 instead of 100 and see if that works.

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

Yes, it does get hotter. I was just trying stuff to get it to print and to save time I started the print early. I have probably 75-100 hours on this printer now. Most prints are tried and true. I have also waited for the bed to heat fully with no luck. I will try to manually move it today. I have a feeling it could be the Ardruino chip since two computers and a repetier reload didn't work. The problem also started off intermitent. What is the likelyhood that is the case? Is there a way to reload the drivers that a small brained person could understand? Thanks for all of your help. I really do appreciate the help!

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

O.K. I made progress. I downloaded a .stl directly from thingiverse, sliced in repetier and it printed. I ran my .skp file that I have had problems with through netfab, then went to open slic3r through repetier and there is no "bed" picture in slic3r like there usually is to load the file to. I just see the print settings. I have had this problem lately. I think I have had configuration problems with repetier. I was not using the the solidoodle default profile (looong story). This slic3r issue may be the root cause of my problems (some self inflicted). So basically I need to get slic3r to work right and I think I will be good. Any ideas as to why the print platform is missing in slic3r?

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

Silly question but does it come up when you click on the plater tab?

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

Well, I reloaded Repetier and downloaded the new slic3r and I am back in business!!!!!! Thanks soooooo much for your help!

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

So, I am up and running again, but my prints are delicate now, as in the infill is very light. I am using .3 on infill which is the same setting I always used, but my prints seem to barely have any infill now. I need them to be structurally sound like before. I think this is due to the new slic3r version. Should I just set the extrusion multiplier higher. If so how much for as starting point?
Also this is the same spool of filament I was using. Thanks.

Re: Solidoodle won't respond

Try remeasuring your filament and lowering the z set screw a little.

I edit my posts a lot.
