Topic: extruder bearing not turning

i've noticed the idler bearing on the extruder is not turning, i have the mk4 set installed, and the bearing turns freely,

is it a problem?

(i have even tried making the surface ruff on the bearing but its no help)

Re: extruder bearing not turning

that means the gear has stripped the filament. This might be indicative of a clogged hotend or you just have a weak spot in your filament.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

Also, when I printed the MK4 the bearing was jamming against the extruder block that holds the hotend.

Re: extruder bearing not turning

I had to carve out the mounting block on mine a little bit as well due to the bearing pressing against it.
