Topic: Y Axis does not move

I just got my Soildoodle 2 today. The Y axis is not moving, I hear something trying to move. The X and Z move fine. When I press the Y axis I see a motor rod in the back spinning, but nothing happens and the belt does not move. I can manually move the Y axis but not via the controls. The rod on the motor spins but never moves the belt.

Re: Y Axis does not move

Check to make sure the set screw y-axis motor pulley is tight on the motor shaft. Sorry to hear the out of the box problems. let's hope that we can get you printing quickly.

Re: Y Axis does not move

I just fixed it, I think. There was a tiny hex bolt on the rod that came out of the Y motor, I tightened it. Now it seems to be moving.

Re: Y Axis does not move

Ok, this is odd, seems I have to re-tighten the screw over and over and it keeps giving out in the first layer

Re: Y Axis does not move

You might need to add a drop of locktite to the screw to hold it in place.

Re: Y Axis does not move

I think i got it eventually. For at least one print it held by adjusting a few of those screws. Hopefully I found the sweetspot if not I can try what you suggest

Re: Y Axis does not move

You might have some debris stuck under the screw also.  Make sure there are no little metal shavings underneath.
