Topic: Extruder Temperature for formfutura abs... Sd3 max temperature?

Hi i have an SD 3 printer.

I have bought some formfuture abs in a variety of colours, i can get the white and light green to melt fine at 195 to 200c but the blue (i've not tried the black) i cant get to melt, looking at formfutura site it says 225 to 250c. When i try to set the extruder temp to 220c the printer goes into fault anything over 205c ish.

Can anyone tell me what the maximum working temp of the sd3 is? And also if you have had trouble melting any abs / solutions?

Much appreciated.

Re: Extruder Temperature for formfutura abs... Sd3 max temperature?

Due to the thermistor placement on the SD, you subtract ~30°C from quoted temps to work out what it is on the SD.

So in the case you've presented, its 195°C to 220°C .. however, as you noted, the default is to limit max temp to 205 as this is 235°C which is getting dangerously close to the PEEKs failure temp of 250°C.. so you don't want to push it past 205°C on the Solidoodle (which is, as stated, already 235°C 'real' temp.. which should be more than enough for the extrusion...)
