I am running into issues with this as well.
When I purchased my S2, the only software package officially supported was the Pronterface package. I have no issue using Pronterface, the installer from the site worked the first time on two separate installs.
I had a hard drive fail, that included my download of Pronterface/Skeinforge for my SD2. I went to the Solidoodle site, and noticed they've removed the Pronterface installer, and see no mention of it anywhere. I am under the assumption that they've officially moved to RH for their software.
This is all well and good, most people prefer it. The software is the least of my worries, I just like being able to print stuff.
The problem I have now is that I can't get my printer to work at all.
I followed the download instructions off of the site, downloaded the serial driver and the version of RH they have linked. Everything went without a hitch.
When I went to connect, it connected on the first shot. (I had double checked the COM ports already). The manual controls will not work, though.
I followed Westin.williams tip and noticed I cannot even click on the EEPROM settings, it's grayed out. I went into the hardware manager, and it didn't install the drivers correctly for the board. There are no instructions as to where the .inf file is specifically, so I can't force a manual install.
Is this a problem because I haven't updated the Firmware to Marlin? In any case, I know as of last year they changed motherboards and all sorts of other stuff, so I may just be up shit creek for adopting early. The price we pay for lower costs :-) . If I can just get the Pronterface Solidoodle 4.3 installer again, it shouldn't be an issue at all since it works.
Any help on this issue would be appreciated greatly, as I have some prints I need to get made.
EDIT: Still trying to get Marlin to install. I've got the Arduino 1.0.5 from the github and using the Marlin.pde from there as well.
I am getting an error avrdude: stk500_getsync(): not in sync: resp=0x00. Google tells me that this means they're not talking. I will try the other tips I have seen to get it to upload and will report back if I am still having the same issue.
Also, the hardware issue is sticking around even when the printer is unplugged, so I believe that is another peripheral.
