Wonder if all the people that were coming to his defense before are still standing behind him now.  I hope that this earns a permanent active ban on that waste of human life.

My 6'4, 300 lb, 500lb benching, well trained muay thai self would love to see you try anytime...want to schedule a match with me for $$$$...I will fight anyone anytime..I have a 100% TKO record...

Oh god, I read that and all I could think was this:

What the f**k did you just f**king say about me, you little b***h? I’ll have you know I graduated top of my class in the Navy Seals, and I’ve been involved in numerous secret raids on Al-Quaeda, and I have over 300 confirmed kills. I am trained in gorilla warfare and I’m the top sniper in the entire US armed forces. You are nothing to me but just another target. I will wipe you the f**k out with precision the likes of which has never been seen before on this Earth, mark my f**king words. You think you can get away with saying that s**t to me over the Internet? Think again, f**ker. As we speak I am contacting my secret network of spies across the USA and your IP is being traced right now so you better prepare for the storm, maggot. The storm that wipes out the pathetic little thing you call your life. You’re f**king dead, kid. I can be anywhere, anytime, and I can kill you in over seven hundred ways, and that’s just with my bare hands. Not only am I extensively trained in unarmed combat, but I have access to the entire arsenal of the United States Marine Corps and I will use it to its full extent to wipe your miserable a** off the face of the continent, you little s**t. If only you could have known what unholy retribution your little “clever” comment was about to bring down upon you, maybe you would have held your f**king tongue. But you couldn’t, you didn’t, and now you’re paying the price, you gorramn idiot. I will s**t fury all over you and you will drown in it. You’re f**king dead, kiddo.

Shame really, it started of as a reasonable idea...

Lends some weight to the other thread about maybe making rules though...

I agree totally, and as the offending posts have been taken care of, I am making an effort to return this thread to it's original purpose by deleting all of my off topic posts here. (In this thread)

Re: Solidoodle Support Academy / Questions

The forums, both here and on the Solidoodle forum, are full of questions and advice.  Much of the advice is useful and correct, although there are some misinformed postings.  There also are topics (like Z axis wobble) where there are so many opinions that it is difficult to distinguish what is really going on.

The single best thing we can do, as a community, is to start posting Symptom-Diagnosis-Solution sections in the Wikis.  People should go to the Wikis FIRST; if they cannot find what they need, they should then post a question.  And once they get a good answer, they should then post the Symptom-Diagnosis-Solution in the Wiki for the next guy.  Simply saying "Thanks!" does not help the next guy.  Soliforum is now large enough that finding old postings is increasingly difficult, unless you are fortunate enough to have a unique search term available to you.

The fact that Solidoodle has been unable or unwilling to document the maintenance of their product is frustrating.  It seems clear that we need to do it for them.

If we had been updating the Wiki carefully over the past six months, about 2/3 of the question traffic would be gone.  We could stop answering the same questions over and over again in the posts, because the answers would be in the Wikis.  And we could then focus on the really new issues (like that killer aquarium pump cooler).

As regards the forums themselves, we might be able to focus the discussions better if we had more precise forum topics (convert "Maintenance" to "Maintenance: Extruder", "Maintenance: Bed", "Maintenance: Parts not sticking", "Maintenance: Layers Moving", etc).

Re: Solidoodle Support Academy / Questions

The other trouble is people not searching. There have been some long threads from new users where somehow everyone patiently answers question after question. The op could have resolved their problems instantly by searching.

Re: Solidoodle Support Academy / Questions

It could be beneficial for us to gather popular answer/solution threads  up and have a closed sticky thread that lists them in the short term.  It is easier than gathering the info and creating the needed wiki pages or creating any new documentation from scratch.  We could then use that collection of links to create those wiki's pages while pointing new users to the sticky immediately.

I always feel like an a hole saying did you try a search first, but you're right it's hard to believe how many times some of the same questions get asked,  and how patient people are in answering them.   Sometimes I just search and post the links to try not to discourage people.   Look back at my first posts I sound just like them.

Re: Solidoodle Support Academy / Questions

I did the Non Stick post so there woud only be one link for that issue.  We need others for clog, extruder not heating, skipping layers.

Re: Solidoodle Support Academy / Questions

It is kinda difficult to search, say "hot end clog", and have multiple threads come up in any logical order. Lots of times you will get the latest update in a thread that is labeled "hot end clog", which apparently nowadays is cross-continental threats and (did anyone compare anyone or any concept to Hitler in this thread yet?) comments which are not always relevant to the search terms. Ideally, any *solved* posts should be displayed first, then most relevant posts on down, not latest.

Solved posts should go to a separate forum. Not to the top.

How about a sub forum within help that mods can move the solved issues to.

Re: Solidoodle Support Academy / Questions

A solved for one might not be the solved for everyone though.  I think John @ sdsupport had a good idea for rating posts, but we'd need that to be sortable on search results.   It's tough to do without alienating the new user coming here for the first time without lots of forum experience.
