Topic: steppers only move when homing, won't move in manual mode

I'm using repeiter host version 0.82 on a solidoodle 2.  My steppers will move to home but do nothing when trying to do any other move. Does anyone know what I could do to fix it?

I have to move them in the direction that would max them out in order to move them at all. For instance if I home my hot end to the back right corner (looking it straight on) Then I have to move X and Y right and backwards respectively before it will move at all. It doesn't matter how much. I am not sure why this happens or if it is the same problem you are having.

I edit my posts a lot.

Frozensoda,

I don't know if that's the same as what's happening to me.  Also I noticed that my thermsistor doesn't look like it's working.  At first it was at 352 C with the heater off.  I took it off and it went to 3C  Now when I put it back on it stays at 3C.  I don't know if the two problems are related or not.

OK I figured it out I think.  After emailing support I put a multi meter on the thermsistor and got a 0 ohm reading.  I took the thermsistor off and saw that some of the insulation was damaged and it was making contact with the brass on the hot end.  I replaced that thermsistor with the one from my old hot end and everything seems to work and move now.  Apparently there is code in the firmware that will not let you move the motors except to home if the thermsistor isn't working.
