Ordering from Solidoodle (Page 1 of 2)

Maybe their shipper person is colorblind... I have always gotten exactly what I ordered form SD... sometimes it takes awhile but that is absolutely no different than any of the other suppliers I deal with concerning 3d printing supplies and parts, with all the news media hype these days there is just a huge demand and some people I talk with don't even really know what they will do with their printer when they get it... they just know they want one because it's the coolest thing since tactical nukes!!!

Yeah, I am rather disappointed. Particularly since SD doesn't even carry that many varieties. Now I don't know what to do with this red filament that I didn't order. For one thing Valentine's day is over. lol.

Yes, but at the same time they don't have a list of manufacturers that sell santioned materials that they can recommend for use with their printer. It feels like looking for plastic is taking a chance that it isn't of the right quality to work properly.

At least in the US, there's a few well-known suppliers in the RepRap supplies market, of which I've only tried a few - MakerGear, UltiMachine, Makerbot and ProtoParadigm. All of them have been good filaments at the time I used them, although I can't imagine willingly paying the doubled price at Makerbot any more. All of my prior experience was also with 3 mm, not 1.75, so I'm being cautious as I explore the thinner material too, and sticking to the vendors that kept me happy on the old Cupcake CNC.

There's a pretty good list - although it's feeling a little neglected lately - of global filament suppliers at the RepRap wiki. Sadly that whole wiki seems sluggish at best lately, and frequently it's been acting unreachable from here. It's the single best reference for all of these hardware variants that I know of, so I hope it's either just something on my end or something that's getting some attention.

I'm very happy with the Proto Paradigm natural that I've been running to get my SD3 dialed in, and one of my next steps will be pushing some PLA using some MakerGear spools I've got on hand.

Order something from solidoodle and get it on time. Now there's a thought, might as well go to a real operation, check out makerbot, printrbot in fact almost any other 3d printer business is more honest...

Most other places advertise and ship appropriately and keep the customer informed. They don't just go radio silent.

You have no credibility on here...have you ordered a printer from Solidoodle?

Interesting that you didn't find this site when you ordered. Then you might have gotten the assistance needed to help you work with technology that is obviously over your head. Then you could have been printing along with the rest of us.

post a copy of your invoice and prove you ordered one. I call BS. if your gonna talk trash back it up.

The typical issues being hot-ends not working/breaking,the huge z axis wobble, substandard construction all-around with cheaper than cheap parts. Software so awful that the community had to pitch in to fix it.... hmmm what else

It works for you... sure... maybe you should ask for real statistics on solidoodle failure rates and support issues per printer sold.

Funny. Same software every other 3D printer uses. Firmware has to be customized for most printers because they do not all use the same electronics. Other components are off the shelf 3D printer parts available for most 3D printers. Hot ends are common failure points due to filament overheating. Obviously dodn't research 3D printing prior to purchase if you really bought one. I can stand on mine without damaging it. Try that with a Reprap.
