Topic: My first object
Yesterday I received my SD3, and today I printed my first 3D object.
Last night I connected the printer and while everything looked fine, and appear to be properly calibrated, I could not get the filament to stick to the build platform no matter what I tried.
I heated the bed to 95°C before printing, cleaned the surface with alcohol to make sure there were not fingerprints, etc. The printer would start printing, but the first layer wouldn't stick at all, and when the second layer came around, it would just lift the first one off the surface and just mangle it around.
I tried adjusting the Z limit screw from almost no pressure to too much pressure, but no luck. I also tried different extrusion temperatures (205°C for the first layer, 200° for the rest), no go. I was using both the ABS that I bought, and the sample ABS that came with the printer.
Ultimately I ended up using some hair spray, and that worked perfectly. IN fact I had a bit of a hard time removing the print from the platform once it was done.
Question: should I remove the print while the platform is still hot, or should I wait for ti to cool off first?
Anyway, here is a picture of my first test. Not the most accurate or clean, but not bad for a first.. I think
