Topic: Post your best/fav print - no Yodas allowed!

I get a lot of inspiration from seeing what others have done.  Even if it's taking an overhang method or joint concept and applying it to some later design of my own.  I know this subforum is for showoff, but let's see your best or favorite print from your solidoodle.  Maybe we'll get a nice long thread going and a good place to point to for people that are looking to buy.  STLs are optional if you just want to share the pic but keep the STL to yourself.

Not my best quality wise, but far and away my favorite so far.  Charger / Megaphone / Base for Note 2 phone.

Nice gif!!!
These are by far my favorite, only because I was actually able to create them myself using sketchup!

I take remix of this model (thing:16218) and cut it into 2 parts

Here's a V8 engine model of mine I'm proud of having made parametrically in OpenSCAD.  It was assembled from 4 separately printed parts.

Re: Post your best/fav print - no Yodas allowed!

very nice prints everyone
i have a hard time choosing my favorite but i think my greatest achievement is this one:

https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/sh/omh57n2cge8p6ij/esd7P5iEbu/2013-04-13%2013.17.41.jpg?token_hash=AAFIokdr5G9vdT3sA2ldTazB3XB1F2GdOqbL0-5BDDiMDw

Fox Mccloud from the Starfox video games
it stands 20.5 centimeters tall
as you can see I printed it in parts and "glued" it together
the reason for this is of course its to tall to print in 1 go and of course the printing time
the parts took averagely 1.5 to 2.5 hours of printing
when something goes wrong its not the end of the world and it would waste way to much support material if i used bigger parts
its not finished yet it needs more sanding where the parts connect and then i will probably paint it
but its already one of my favorites

the slightly smaller one on the right is crystal also a character from the starfox games
i have printed all the parts i just need to glue them together
all her parts took about 30 minutes to 1.5 hours of printing each

all the prints in this picture are taken directly from different video games
i edited them and converted them for 3D printing use

well i got more than plans big_smile
as you can see in my last photo, on the left there is the goddes statue in skyloft from the game skyward sword
i have almost finished replaying twilight princess and while playing i have saved almost 800 scenes from the game
link, wolf link, midna ,zelda ,shadow creatures a couple of bosses, friends and enemy's etc. etc.
i have captured almost everything interesting in the game

also something from skyward sword:

these images are unedited only a little scaled to the correct size, everything comes straight from the games

i dont have a lot of prints yet but way to many things i want to print tongue

oh and the fox model came from the game starfox adventures so there was not a lot of flying but a lot more beating up dinosaurs smile

Re: Post your best/fav print - no Yodas allowed!

Thank you YSB! Sorry about the large photos I could not figure out how to re-size them. These were all printed at 0.1mm layers with 10% infill. I am extremley happy with the way they came out. YSB really has a feel for what will print and what won't Thank you again. Also I would like to talk directly to YSB if it is possible, I have a question only you can answer.

lol well I had the first one on 5 perims and it took a LONG LONG time.

The big one called "Waiting for Battle"

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:61160

It took 20 hours to print and has some "fuzzys" where the plastic dragged a bit when it moves across the surface. I love this model and some sand paper tape around a butter knife will work brilliantly.

The one called "Who Will be the First"

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:68741

This one took 11 hours to print and I turned perimeters down to 3. This model came out excellent. No problems at all.

The last one is called "Guardian of the Temple"

http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:49103

This one took 10 hours, 3 perims. Excellent print only a little clean up required.

After the prints were done I ran them through my dishwasher. This cleaned off some dirt that had accumulated and blew off some of the fuzzy stuff.

BTW I did these back to back, My printer ran for over 40 hours straight without a single hardware related problem. Yes banding is in the prints, but it is minimal. I am now giving my printer a well deserved rest while I figure out my next upgrade move. I think it will be the jigsaw replacement.

I edit my posts a lot.

whoo.. i have a fan wink as i print (several times) all my creations before i put them in download.. if i can't print it.. you can't download it big_smile

sure you can talk to me without problem.. even by PM if you like..

ps : psssssst *whisper* as you seem to like my "adventuress" series, i just pass my week to redo the "sorceress" ... more sexy... more furniture..with a stand.. and now with 0% support in it smile ..soon on your screen.. wink

@doominabox1: parametric means that the object was created with a "program" in a special software (often openSCAD). and some of the part of the object can be changed with a variable :
for example, perhaps the motor use a variable "length of the exhaust" than you can change. after changing this variable, the software will "build" a new STL of the model that you just have to print..

wow thats long smile

my fox model took around 7-8 hours of printing total and thats 20.5 CM high tongue
with 10 percent infill

and lucky you i have had a lot of problems with my printer even now it doesnt work anymore
i got it since December and it has only worked for about 3 weeks
but customer support is great so im sure we can work it out
and it has never been on for more than 6 hours at a time
even with all these problems i still love my printer (when it works big_smile)

Re: Post your best/fav print - no Yodas allowed!

Here is a print for my daughters wedding cake. I scanned her with Kinect and Reconstructme. Used Netfabb and Meshmixer to clean up. I then printed at .1mm with 10% infill. Now, off to the smoothing station.

Re: Post your best/fav print - no Yodas allowed!

My best print so far that hasn't been something functional like fan mounts etc, or printing calibration prints, would have to be I think the "Qui sera le premier."/"who will be the first" from ysb's fantastic collection.

Printed in glow-blue PLA that I've been playing with lately, scaled down 50%, printed in .25mm layers, with a fan attached. Only place with noticeable issues was the sword bases. I also lost a bit of detail due to PLA ooze. Would love to retry now in ABS...
