Topic: HELP! Repetier-Printer Connection Issues

Just received my SD2 and began downloading the software pactages found on the How-To page. So after plugging everything in, I've downloaded Repetier V0.82 and updated my USB Serial Converter & Port drivers to the latest (1/18/13) releases yet I am still having 'connection' issues.

I can load an STL file, manipulate it, slice it, and see the Gcode. Where I'm running into problems is getting the printer to respond to the Manual Control tab. I can't move the extruder along the XYZ axis or heat the extruder to pull the factory filament out. :S

Has anyone else had the problems or have an idea on how to troubleshoot?

Do you select the right COM-port?
Are you connected to the printer?

Yes my COM3. And yes. There is also this 'Virtual Printer' dropdown option on the printer settings. I'm assuming this is some sort of 'dry run' type setting.

Re: HELP! Repetier-Printer Connection Issues

Your connection-button is labeled "Disconnect".
Your printer should make some "noise" if you connect and disconnect.
Sorry for the "silly" questions because I had the same problem but the problem was no problem.
I just had the wrong Com-Port. You double-checked the virual-com-port in the device-manager (if you are running on windows)

When you click on the 'Connect' button (top left of the screen) does any thing show up in the bottom window? like error messages, status, etc...

It would not allow me to insert the text into the forum submission so i've uploaded it as a .txt file here.

I'm pretty darn sure I've got the right port. Would the communicating Baud rate of that port be an issue? My COM3 seems to be running at about 56000 whereas the printer settings show a COM3 port Baud at 250000...

Re: HELP! Repetier-Printer Connection Issues

UPDATE: a new USB cable and using another port did the trick. Now to determine why the extruder is not feeding the filament correctly upon starting a job. :S

I'll get it...

Thanks for helping a noobie out!
