Topic: 3D scanner from Pro 3in1 to basic Pro 1.0 - will it function?

Hello. Is it possible to swap 3d scanner hardware from Pro 3 in 1 to plain Pro? Is the motherboard the same? Just bought faulty 3-i -1 and would like to add this feature to my working Pro 1.0. Thank you.

The parts will be missing on the board that would no normally support the scanner. You would need to figure out all of the missing parts, source them, and then install them which would require surface mount soldering skills.

what's wrong with the faulty 3 in 1? It might be easier to fix the 3 in 1 unless the mainboard is burned. The xyzpring 3d scanner is not worth theffort, I heard it bad scan quality. if the laser modual works, worth the effort to convert the 3 in 1 to laser engraver if inpossible to fix.

The laser on those units is just a 5mw red laser. They are not strong enough to even blind you, much less engrave.

It is actually 0.35W 450nm laser, yes, it take long time to burn wood. but 1.5W 405nm laser head is about $20 on aliexpress, easy enough to replace. You can get 4W 445nm laser head for $130 if you are really serious about the power, but I have no problem burn wood and autoclave-able plastics with 1W 405nm laser. Did not see any hope to cut wood board and acrylic glass though.

Da Vinci 1.0 serial case and front door (Although don't close easily) are perfect for laser engrave (And yes, the front door is laser shield, perfect for family that have kids running around), not to mention the build-in LED make it easy to see the progression of engraving through the door.

Laser engrave with that drawing size (200 mm X 200 mm) with full enclosure are extremely expensive (to me at least), but half broken Da Vinci 1.0 is like $100 plus shipping.

That would be why it is such a bad scanner then. There is a reason most high end scanner use a red laser. Inmost cases UV is nearly invisible to cameras unless they have been modified just for that purpose which makes their price almost double. I doubt an XYZ device would have a camera that has actually been modified to see UV.

Re: 3D scanner from Pro 3in1 to basic Pro 1.0 - will it function?

Their camera for 3D scan is terrible for sure, but it is different laser I think. The so called 3 in 1 can only 3d print and scan, you need to buy the 0.35W laser head add-on separately, for as "low" as $200 now. It was $700+ before.

When someone say "you get what you paid for", Da Vinci 1.0 Pro 3 in 1 with laser add-on is always the first one come to my mind smile

Re: 3D scanner from Pro 3in1 to basic Pro 1.0 - will it function?

Thank you for the info - afaik the motherboard of 3 in 1 is shot and it have been a bit vandalised trying to repair. I have still got the motherboard - is it worth (possible) trying to repair motherboard or don't bother and go ramps way?

Don't bother, go ramps way. Actually MKS board may be better for the size and price.
