Topic: [Da Vinci 2.0a Duo] ABS not sticking [Slic3r]

I leveled my bed to many times.
Used auto level bed and touched everything else.
But Or it will not stick using a glue-stick and a heated bed.
Or it clogs up a round the nozzle when i use 4 stick layers of glue.

I'm now playing with the z-offset setting in slic3r itself.

below my settings, if someone could help me figure out where i'm going wrong.
I would love the help smile

I bet is scewed up my PLA settings also sad

Manual bed leveling:
paper 0.12 mm thick

Zmin evaluation:
Z1 = -4.744 mm
Z2 = Failed
Z3 = ......... mm

manual set Zmin to zero

ABS diameter 1.75 mm
flow/multiplier 0.9
extruder 230c first layer and others
bed 95c first layer and other

first layer 0.3 mm
other layers 0.2 mm

Are you using the glue on bare glass or tape?  You should use the glue on the bare glass.  Or better yet use hairspray on glass instead of the glue.

I'm using it on the bare glass, I ordered some special 3d printing spray to test.

But it's driving me crazy.
In Slic3r playing with the Z-offset -0.22 and -0.23
Then at once the nozzle distance get like 5mm.
now i'm at a z-offset 0.22mm and the nozzle gets it on the plaid, but i cannot get it to stick.

. 22 is too much for a .3 layer. The gap should be half or less of your desired layer height. Believe me when trying to get that first layer to stick that small fraction makes a difference. I even adjust some times during the first layer print. The first layer should be almost a smear of material. The thinner the better, but if you go too thin you can also cause jamming. You also might try a different slicer as well.

I cancelled the print and gone in with the piece of paper to adjust the height.
I got the first layer to stick.
Still have to fine tune it because the the brim isn't holding to well.
But it looks like the it will get the print done.

But the Z-offset minus value makes the gape bigger or smaller?

I always just adjusted on the fly using the bed adjuster screws. never did the offset thing except to get it in the ballpark. You should not use the auto adjust for any reason as it is faulty in the fact it does not account for your desired layer thickness.

The offset =/- depends on the printer and what is actually moving. In gcode the movement refers to only the head. While some printers move the bed, you have to visualize this as the head only moving and the bed is stationary.

Re: [Da Vinci 2.0a Duo] ABS not sticking [Slic3r]

if you have some acetone, mix a little with some of the waste abs, to a thin paste like mix, a drop of this (about an inch circle) spread across the plate and your prints will stick nicely, they will also have a nice smooth finish on that side. when the print finishes, leave it to cool and it should just pop off the bed. at times once you have some mix already on the bed, a quick wipe with an acetone soaked tissue, just respreads the mix, if you want to clean it off (to change colour maybe), then a stanley knife blade and an acetone cloth will clean it off. I have a small bottle of each colour abs slurry to hand.

Re: [Da Vinci 2.0a Duo] ABS not sticking [Slic3r]

For me best way to have print stick to the bed was to use Dimafix spray which used previous owner of printer smile I put small box on the bed with hole in which I sprayed a bit, covered that hole, waited until "fog" was gone. Anyway still a bit messy. It was so good that glass chipped off in one place and I had to fill that place with some glue. But now I ran out of it and use ABS dissolved in acetone. Put as much ABS until you can not dissolve more. You simply put some of that mixture on paper towel and smear it all over a bed, few coats, I don't have to wait until it evaporates, bed will dry it anyway before printing, you have to check it yourself, flawless. Use only pure acetone, none of that nail removing rubbish which contains oil, vitamins etc.
