Topic: Broke the thermistor, where to buy a new one?

So long story short, I was cleaning out a jam which caused a huge ball of melted filament to form inside the extruder assembly. After I was finished cleaning it out I tried to print again and noticed that the temperature just sits at 10 degrees. I guess while I was cleaning out the extruder I somehow snapped something inside of the thermistor. I know it is the thermistor and not the heater because the extruder heats up enough where i can extrude filament by pushing it through by hand, but the display reads out 10 degrees. I was wondering if/where I can buy a new thermistor for my Da Vinci JR 1.0 because I really do not feel like paying $80 for an entire new extruder as XYZ Printing customer service is telling me (printer is out of warranty) when only a tiny part of it is broken.

The issue is they use a none standard thermistor of unknown value. So you can't simply just buy one unless some one can tell you what the resistance is on a good thermistor at room temp with the exact same machine. They do this to make it harder for the user to make repairs. Service is another spot they wanted to make money on.

take the thermostats out and see if reading come normal. you really should not damage anything by mess with thermostats, usually you break the wire or short circuit the thermostats, and it will not damage anything, test the resistance of your thermostats to determine it is broken wire or short circuit. short circuit will give you near 0 resistance and broken wire you don't have reading, good connection give you 100-400 ohms if hot end is at room temperature. after finish, either by solder the wire or by separate two wire by wrap the wire with heat resistant kapton tape.
