Sorry, but i will NEVER back a kickstarter campaign, ever.
Yeah, the whole kickstarter thing started out as a great idea/concept, but it has been used and abused to death at this point.
That said - I am not even remotely interested in a "cheap" printer - I don't care what the claims are.
From where I sit, there is NO way you can build a QUALITY, RELIABLE 3d printer for under $100. Sorry, I just don't believe it.
You can make all the claims you want to make on the net, I don't really care. People make outlandish claims every day.
I say this after rebuilding 2 used Solidoodles that are now SUPER reliable machines and it cost me WAY more than $100 in the parts to do so, and that does not include the motors, frames and a few other bits. (never mind the cost of purchasing them to start with)
Could I have done this for less cost? Yeah, probably, but they most likely would not be nearly as reliable as they currently are.
I have also built 3 kit printers ranging in price from $270 to $500 - and while they are OK machines, they are not nearly as good as they could be with further improvements (i.e.: spending more money on them)
Cost is not the ONLY factor when I am looking at a 3D printer.
It MUST be solid - structurally.
It MUST be reliable - I want to turn it on, slice my model and hit print - not spend hours re-calibrating everything because it got bumped in passing.
I also do not want to worry about it starting on fire randomly - even tho I never run my printers unattended (part of the reason I have moved away from cheap boards - random meltdowns of the main power connections).
I have NO use for something with less than an 8x8x8 (200x200x200) build volume, either - bigger would be better to be honest. and it MUST be capable of printing not just PLA, but ABS and Nylon as well (i.e.: full enclosure and heated bed standard, along with a hotend capable of the kind of temps needed for Nylons)
So, good luck with your cheap printer - no interest here.
