Topic: stall protection

hello.
while am waiting for a filastruder am slowly digesting the manual but wondering about the fan being wired to the SPB " stall protection board" rather than cramming the motor fan wiring into the terminal.

could I just use the +- pads next to the terminal on the IN side of the SPB.

Re: stall protection

I did something similar, I soldered the motor to the pos neg pads and ran the fan into the terminals. I figured soldering was better than screw down terminals for the motor

Smow did consider soldering directly to the board, but being a first time user "expecting a few tear downs along the way"  so opting for single headers.

with you mentioning the motors, you have your fan connected to the output side of SPB. just from the wiring diagram I get the impression its plugged into the IN side. would/does it make a difference to the setup?

Re: stall protection

The only load on the out side should be the gearmotor, not the fan.

Re: stall protection

Sorry you are correct, the input side has the 12v supply soldered and the fan wired to the terminals

lol middle of the night clicked to that what you may have meant.  I've decided to settle on desoldering the terminal blocks and moving it across and adding another.

I seen in a Ytube vid someone adding heatsink to the fet, but they dont mention dimensions , wondering if someone knows  even an ebay link be helpful... not 100% its needed else  it be in the kit, but for what they cost it want harm things having it.

Re: stall protection

A heatsink is not needed, but one is included in the kit.
