Topic: Cura setting for Solidoodle 2

i'm sick of getting skid on the first layer. i wonder what were they thinking. (the bed is too slippery)

and i heard the Cura makes neat raft for stable printing.

so i installed the Cura and tried some calibration for solidoodle 2.

i set bed size, nozzle size, filament diameter and so on.

but for some reason Cura doesn't makes proper G-code for Solidoodle2.

extruder doesn't gets right position on the bed and extrudes massive amount of plastic. (it's disastrous)

i hope there's setting file(*.ini) for this program customized with Solidoodle 2.

if so, plz upload the setting file. i beg for your mercy.

Here is my Cura.ini, give it a try.

It's a front end for Skeinforge 50, so this post might help you with settings-

You could also just use Skeinforge in Repetier, and activate raft.  KISSlicer has raft as well, and is faster even than Slic3r.

I have no problem printing on the bed (with Kapton).  I also have no problems printing on glass (when coated with hairspray).

You need to be sure that the bed is both level, and at the correct initial height.  Home the printer and try to push a piece of regular printer paper between the extruder nozzle and the bed.  You should JUST BARELY be able to shove it under, and once under, you should feel the roughness of the paper as you move the paper around.  If the paper goes in too easily, then the nozzle is too far away from the bed, and the first layer will not stick.  Do this at four points near the corners of the bed.  If the paper does not feel the same at all four points, adjust the height of the bed until the clearance is uniform and correct.

Repetier allows you to add "brims" to a printout, which increases the footprint of the print to allow it to stick more to the bed.  Cura may work, but should not be necessary.

Re: Cura setting for Solidoodle 2

You guys made my day!

That spray thing works like a charm..
I.J's Cura setteing actually worked for Solidoodle 2 just fine.
And the brim feature.. after Z-leveling, it gives me great traction. just what i was looking for..

Thanks so much Solidoodlers smile
