Topic: Extruder Motor "jumping" / Nozzle clogged? / won't extrude
I printed without any incidents for a while. now I'm having the following problem:
A short while after starting a print, sometimes as soon as the first layer, sometimes (smaller print) after several layers, i hear the extruder motor "jumping" and failing to transport the filament. At the same time the nozzle starts to produce garbage / very thin extrusion / nothing. Depends. Mostly it won't extrude anything anymore.
When I stop the print, back out the filament, turn up the heat a bit, and fiddle around with everything I can usually get the extruder to extrude again. But if i try extruding for example 50 mm into the air it will produce the problem again.
Here is a video of what my problem looks and sounds like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OqVVaapZkXQ
(In the video i had it working okay again, set it to extrude 50 mm at 165° and started the recording)
I use PLA, which printed perfectly at 160 degrees for more than 500g of different colored PLA filament.
I have this problem at 160, 165 and 170 degrees (more and I see it get's too hot and starts to bubble a bit).
I tried switching the nozzle (I ordered a spare one) but the thing is screwed on so tight that i couldn't get it loose from the aluminum heater block. I used two pliers and quite some force but it didn't loosen the slightest bit. How am I supposed to switch that thing without damaging it!? Any ideas? : /
I attached an image of what my hotend looks like. (I carefully reattached the heat sensor thingy with new kapton tape exactly like it was before)
Does anyone have an idea what could be the problem and ideas how to fix it? ![]()
