In a pinch you can use a pliers to grip the bottom of the front two bed leveling screws and turn them, you shouldn't have to turn them too far.

Re: Orders Shipping List

Got my shipment yesterday and got it all unpacked. Packing was nice and secure on the box. However...

As I was removing the bubble wrap a small set srew fell to the bottom of the case.  Was too late last evening to try and figure out where it came from or even if it was a spare that was just hanging around in the bubble wrap.

Will investigate tonight if I get home at a decent hour.

Also, My order of 2 rolls of filament were in a seperate box packed with peanuts.  What a P.I.T.A to get all the peanut out of the center hole...  betweenthe static and the amount that were crammed in there I had to go out to garage and use compressor to finally blow them out.

All In All very pleased about the delivery.....  Will hopefully have some updates later tonight.....

Re: Orders Shipping List

My first day with my SD3.  ADmintedly, the first few attempts popped off the platen unfinshed.  And then, after getting that dialed in, I printed 4 adjustment knobs and the front and back panel for the Panelolu.  I'm just getting warmed up as the last six items came out perfect!!!  But alas... I am flying back out... phoooey on work!

Solidoodle 3
Solidoodle 5827
arrived today feb 7
ordered nov 18

I couldn't be happier with it. I have heard so many problems that I was a little scared but very very few problems. I was expecting to spend days, even weeks to get the results I got in mere minutes. I had to unplug and plug the USB cable back in and walk all the way up stairs to get some acetone to make the prints stick. That is all. It was a nice touch that the pvc spool holder had actually been printed on my machine, as proof of testing.

I was worried about the smell, but it is practically non existent. The noise is a humming 63 dB, which is a little bit louder than I was hoping for but I have a feeling that when I build an enclosure for it, a lot of that will fade.

A few questions (and these are going to sound pretty dumb):
is there a way to turn off the lights?
is there a way to print thicker than .3mm?

Great job Solidoodle, I am a very happy customer!

What OS are you using?

SD3, E3D hotend, linear bearing on x/y axis',pillow block bearing on y conneting rod, ball bearngs on front y axis, fan on y stepper motor.

Re: Orders Shipping List

Windows 8
I had already dealt with all the problems of the arduino drivers because I have been using an arduino uno recently, so it was very simple. I had downloaded all of the python and repetier files that I needed before the printer came.

Re: Orders Shipping List

My SD2 is in the last steps of the delivery, it's on transit to my city, but not sure if it will arrive in time.
My guess is that it should arrive on Friday or Saturday, but if it's on Saturday I'll only get it next Wednesday sad

I live in Brazil, and it's Carnival around here, so the post office will close on Friday and only reopen on Wednesday!

Come on... hurry! I would REALLY like to playing with it over the long weekend.

Re: Orders Shipping List

My SD3 shipped today, ordered 26/11/2012 shipped 07/02/2013, and is scheduled to be here tomorrow. That is if the UPS guy can manage to make it to my house during the blizzard.

Glad to hear you are happy with your SD smile

If you are using Slic3r for slicing you can easily up the layers greater than .3mm but the main reason I do it is to speed  the print up as you will lose quality among other things... so don't do it unless you know what to expect... with that said it's easy just go to configure for slic3r then the print settings tab - for layers and perimeters change layer height and first layer height to..... .5 (or what ever you want... but there is a catch usually the layer height can not exceed the print extruder orifice which in this case is .35mm smile so if you go too far over .35 it may not be pretty) once that is done save your changes to a new profile ie...'solidoodle2 .5mm' then click on the filament settings tab and change the extrusion multiplier up a bit (I have mine at .85 for this profile) you may have to experiment a bit wink save that profile also ie...'Solidoodle2 .5mm' now click on the printer settings tab go down to extruder1 section and then change the nozzle diameter to .5 (or to what ever number you are using for your layers)
If your main reason is to speed up the print you can also turn up the feedrate in RH I run mine above 200 (stock is 100) but here again make sure your machine can handle it without losing steps

Ps. when you go to slice your object make sure to select the profiles you just saved... all 3

Great, I will certainly have to try that out. Right now I am a little scared to mess with it too much just because it is working so well. I don't necessarily need the printer to speed up, I just don't need as fine of detail as the .3mm is giving me.

Re: Orders Shipping List

Ordered SD3 on January 29th.
Shipped Feb 1st (!)
Received Feb 8th at 7:00 PM (earlier than that, but that's when I got my paws on it after 2.5 hours of driving through a snow storm)
First print Feb 8th at 9:00PM.

So far, I've had great experiences with Solidoodle support.  Had some mastercard issues on ordering, and John helped me through it.

Couldn't play much with my SD3 yet, as I've been teaching a solidworks workshop (go figure) all weekend. Looking forward to working with it!

Wow. You got lucky. I ordered mine before you and mine isn't shipped yet. I know there was no problem with my credit card as I see its been charged since a day or so after ordered.

Re: Orders Shipping List

Well, I'd actually ordered quite some time before the 29th, (early to mid January) but wasn't given an order #. I actually ended up somehow charging my MC five times by repeatedly pressing confirm. Much as I'd love five solidoodles, it's not in the cards. For whatever reason my charges got stuck in some sort of mastercard limbo. After several anxious emails to customer service, I eventually got a call from John who helped me work out what had happened. I sent payment through paypal directly to solidoodle on the 29th, so that's what I called my "order" date.

For all I know, they started building when I first ordered five solidoodles by accident. Maybe 4 other people will have expedited orders as a result smile

Regarding bed warpage, that's to be determined. I've noticed some prints starting to peel off, but I'm not sure if this has more to do with my bed temperature than anything else. I wasn't expecting to have the thing so early and I need to pick up a dial indicator and a few other tools for home.

For what it's worth, I don't see any "obvious" warpage on the bed. The packing was quite good, using an expanded foam and large cell bubble wrap to restrain all of the components. If I had to access the adjustment screws it kind of stinks that I have to peel up the kapton. Why not turn the screws around so that way we can adjust bed height from below?

My biggest issue is bed adhesion at this stage. I tried printing Ian Johnson's fan duct but the "ring" that is initially printed that eventually forms the shroud around the nozzle keeps on delaminating. Granted, I've only logged a few hours on the machine, so I have some more experimenting to do. Now all I need is a day off work smile

Any chance because he /she teaches at an educational institution, and it would be better for marketing reasons that he/she receives it sooner to spread the word.

Of course, i'm purely speculating. But it would be in line with my thoughts on why other people had shipped befre mine, even though i clearly ordered before they did. Like these guys

I'm not bitter, mine's on its way....

Mm.. Sounds like you had some serious issues initially (charging you 5X the amount). Understandably, they probably pushed you up the queue for customer relations. Well, that's my alternative thought, because if my math is correct, 19 November 2012 (my S3 upgrade date) is still before Jan 2013.

Anyway, have fun with your printer!
