Topic: Using concentrated ABS solution/ ABS powder

Hi I am trying to do some experiments here.

Just want to check if you guys advise against using concentrated ABS solution instead of pellets, and what is expected to happen if I do that.

(I assume it is not advised) Then will it be better if I let it evaporate and cut the residue chunk into pieces then put inside?

On the other hand, how about ABS powder instead of pellets?

Thanks wink

Well there's the extreme risk of fire for starters, since all the ABS solvents I know of are flammable. Then there's the problem of the solvents boiling in the melt chamber, producing bubbles.

Powders are fine.

The ABS solution should make a great glue though....

With ABS pellets available so cheaply, I see no reason not to use what the machine is designed for. I've been using some $2/lb PA-746 and it's been working very well.

Thanks a lot for the reply guys!!!

Anyways I am trying to home make some conductive filaments here for fun. Already purchased some cheap CNTs and am thinking of ways to mix them. I found two doable methods.

One is to dissolve ABS and CNT and then mix them together (Hence the ABS solution). Then maybe dry it? And cut into pellets to extrude.

Two is to just throw both ABS and CNT in and see what comes out.

Yeah am short of ideas for other methods. Will probably try it out tmr or next week.
