Topic: Is 25% waste of cartridge filament the norm?

I just bought a DaVinci 1.0 off a friend that was completely frustrated with it.  Now I understand why.  Customer service is not what I would expect.   For example, the filament cartridge shows 60m of filament remaining, but the xyz software keeps coming up with a filament low warning and not letting me print.  This warning is not on the printer, it is on the computer, and you can not press ok and continue.

Unfortunately while dealing with customer support, I updated to the latest firmware, so I am now reading in the forums how I can flash the printer so I can get rid of the cartridge filament setup.

Has anybody else updated the newest firmware and done so with success?

Thank you.

Yes this is the norm. that is why I flashed mine and can use up the entire roll and use any filament I want.
I would have kept the original software if it used up 90 percent of the roll but it doesn't.

However once I modified the firmware I started doing all sorts of other mods after all why not the warranty is already voided by the firmware update
