Topic: repairing broken nut retainer under extruder

I wondered why the extruder had so much vertical play in the back, and come to discover that the part had cracked in half.  I have no idea if it cracked under use, and I just noticed it, or if I cracked it by over-enthusiastic tightening.  I'm trying to glue it now, but 1) the two parts did not mate perfectly to begin with, and 2) it is not an easy place to clamp.

Anyone else run into this?  Any advice?  I would prefer to avoid getting an entire new carriage for this one issue, but it may come to that.

Use this with a little modification.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I'm not sure how your part would help.  Your part assumes that I have two holes where the bottom screw attaches your part to the rest of the assembly.  My problem is that one of those holes is broken.

Jon, is your other printer running?

I think that one tab would work with a locking nut on the missing side or glue the tab back on since the spring is doing most of  the work.

The glue worked, but I've not tried a torture test on the glued joint.

I had to print a part that tied across to the front of the carriage because mine failed there too. If the glue doesn't hold on its own, let me know and ill send you the stl.

If you don't mind, please do post the part.  I reported this in part to get assistance, but also so that if someone encounters the problem going forward, they will have a solution in hand.  Solidoodle might also be excited to know how to fix problems like this short of actually replacing the entire carriage!

Yes. Same thing happened to me a few months back. Here is my post with picture of it...

Mine was just cracked and not broken off and I used straight acetone to glue it and clamped it overnight. Been holding up fine up to now.
