Topic: SD4 E3D v6 Mods

As I have been working through the wealth of information captured throughout the forum on extruder upgrades I am slowly making my way to installing the E3D v6 hot end.  Have a few pictures of the mechanical before I get to building connectors.  Because my printer is down I opted for the mechanical solution of machining down the E3D v6 mounting flange to fit in the standard SD4 mount.  That was a great tip and it made the mechanical install super easy.  A few images attached.

So far the firmware update to Marlin went well.  Just need to finish wiring things up and I should be back to printing!

*Update - Back to printing

Installation and tuning had no issues.  I reused the Solidoodle 4 thermister after some thought about why I would change parts.  Could not think of a compelling reason.  I also ordered stock Solidoodle connectors from DigiKey to make installation easy.  No hacking wire harnesses.  PN A31080-ND and A30986 worked for me.  Adjusted the PID after autotune.  Extruder heats up very quickly.  Currently printing at 220 C with ABS.  Thanks again for the help!
