Re: Problem flashing Printrboard. Help please.
I plan to produce a set of instructions for this Win 10, Printrboard combo, with notes for E3d Lite. There's too much blood on the floor not to. ![]()

Guys, would it be a good idea for us to have our own copies of the latest downloadables in the Wiki so we are not at the mercy of some other site or link being down?
For example, this seems like a dead link to me:
Well I am reading open circuits on both thermistors. Is that probable? How does a thermistor get open, short of breaking one during installation?
And, I guess I need a tip for where to get replacements.
Filastruder.com
Open circuit, most likely one of the leads broke off. They are delicate little creatures ![]()
Carl, I'm thinking that maybe when we changed the Pins.H extruder pin from 21 to 40 I blew the bed thermistor, maybe worse. Since then,I get no response fro the bed and the thermistor reads an open circuit.
I cannot read the small pic of the Printrboard schematic you posted. Can you link me to that? I have a Rev E board.
I asked Tim at filastruder and he didn't seem to have a thermistor for the bed, no response anyway. Where else would get one? I do have the extruder thermistor on its way.

Small pic? That image takes up my entire 1920 x 1080 screen. If yours is small then just Google Printrboard schematic. Changing those pins from 21 to 40 would not have made a difference in the thermistor as those where heater pins.. Also the bed thermistor should be the same type as the hotend thermistor. Does SD use a different type? If they do then your settings for the sensor type are wrong as the current settings are for an ordinary 100K thermistor like the hotend uses.
The bed thermistor is the same as the stock hot end thermistor. I see no reason an e3d thermistor wouldn't work.
Okay, I was rechecking everythng for the umpteenth time, went to RH and noticed again the red cross across the Extruder icon. I clicked on it, the red cross goe way and the extrueder is heating. AND now the bed t heating.
Something I should have realized earlier:
If the thermistor is bad it will not return a temperature reading.
It was showing room temp, so I figured the thermistor can't be bad. It wasn't.
So, the new version of RH, beware, the little icons with a red band across them means you have them disabled!
So this whole time, you are telling us that you didn't know how to turn the heaters on???
I don't know whether to laugh or cry!!!
I was used to the old RH.
So now, everything is heated up, the bed is 85, the extruder is 200 and none of the manual controls will work, xyz or extruder.
Here's one thing that helped confuse me. The Fan icon is crossed out too yet it is running constantly.
I concluded that since clicking the Fan icon did nothing it was not an on-off, just an error indication.
Grrr
Maybe it has something to do with the torture you've been putting the firmware through the last couple weeks ![]()
Do you know where to click to make an axis move? Or are you hoping it just does it magically on its own?
Try moving X and y by hand to the endstops then shut everything down including power and computer. Then start it all back up and see if that helps.
Why dont manual controls work?
It's all good, this is how we learn and there is no disputing that new RH interface isn't the best.
and after loading and slicing a job it wont print
Read my above post on your control issues

Your fan is most likely connected to an always on source and not a controlled source. That fan button is for a PWM controlled fan and is mapped to a specific port that you may not be using.
As for the movement, first make sure you start from home. If the printer cannot establish home it will not move. Put the head and bed in home position as Ward said by hand. Then shut down and restart everything. Connect with RH. Then try to move the axis by clicking the button inside the ring. Depending on which button you click it will move from 1mm per click all the way out to 100 mm per click.
On the newest RH I have found it does not always slice then automatically print. Sometimes you have to click load and load the sliced gcode then click print/run.
I now use Simplify3d so my RH knowledge is old.
Okay jiggering the xy by hand and homing it got the manual controls going. The equivalent of banging the side of the TV set.
Guys I want to apologize for taking so dang much of your time these last couple of weeks and to thank you so much for your help. My brain is not as quick as it once was but with your help I am rapidly getting back up to speed on these issues.

It just needs to know where home is. Can't really expect somebody to move if you drop them into a darkroom and tell them to move north now can you?
Just for the record had you clicked one of the house/home shaped buttons with an axis mark it probably had homed that axis without the restart needed. That forces it to move in the home direction assigned in firmware till it hits a home switch or times out..

No need to apologize, it's just frustrating when we miss something that obvious.
