Topic: New Power Supply Connector Plug incompatible with Printer?

Hi

My SolidDoodle 2 power pack/supply broke so I bought a new power supply - not a SolidDoodle one just a standard one from a supply store.

The new power supply's DC connector plug (the power supply plug that plugs into the back of the printer) doesn't fit into the printer back. Is the connector a special one? Can a standard power supply with the same specifications be used on a SolidDoodle printer?

I've gone to the supply store to find the right connector but they couldn't find an exact match, although they were not that helpful. Note I am in Australia so maybe the connector is American specific?

Just take the connector from your old supply and splice it to the new supply .

+1 cut off the old cable, and use the old connector. It's not region-specific, it's just a reasonably uncommon jack size so unlikely to be found in electronics shops etc. I'm sure you're aware, but make sure you get the +/- around the right way. smile

Pretty much any supply will be suitable as long as:
* Make sure the current rating (A) is equal to or larger than the solidoodle supply - should be 12.5A, but more is better
* Make sure the new supply has the same voltage rating (V) as the old one - should be 12V DC
