Topic: Upgrade to Da Vinci 1.0 Pro

I am using Da Vinci Duo and received an email about trading in my old one and get the new 1.0 Pro for $499.  I have 2 questions:
1. other than the support for generic filament, did they make any other major improvements?  calibration?
2. if I traded it in, they said they won't support the old one I have.  Does anyone know if I can still use it or they will turn it off via software?

Thanks,
TOKA

Re: Upgrade to Da Vinci 1.0 Pro

When I spoke with customer service, I was told  it will do many filaments, has temp adjustment, aluminum bed and better calibration... The old one will work , just not have warranty if there is any left from your original purchase.  I thnk that they are having so many complaints about calibration, the cost of their filament, that they decided to change. The goal is for this to be a user friendly household printer. It is not " high end" but it does a lot for the $$$.

Re: Upgrade to Da Vinci 1.0 Pro

After looking at a Pro I can say the big changes are the metal bed and a Bowden extruder plus the ability to use other than XYZ filament. I was surprised to see it printing at 15mm/s on a .200 layer height though as the Bowden setup, with the extruder motor mounted on the frame, should be able to run faster than the DaVinci 1.0.

SD2 Expert stock, ABS fume fan,
XYZ DaVinci 1.0 stock ABS, Simplify3D
QUBD Two-Up PLA, new 3D printed X gantry, Y idler, flex z coupler, extruder mount, E3D Lite

I have it and love it, I printed this at 235 degrees and 90 on bed, at speed 45 http://soliforum.com/i/?SJu2w9h.jpg

ive run faster but not at .2.... as for setting and control you have so much more, just lacks support material options and first layer options.

From a picture somebody posted on here, the hotend looks identical to the 1.0. So I would assume about 240*C.

da Vinci 1.0
Repetier Firmware, E3D v6 Hot End
Successfully printed in: ABS, PLA, Ninjaflex, Nylon, and Woodfill

Re: Upgrade to Da Vinci 1.0 Pro

Does anyone know if I elected to upgrade to 1.0 Pro, do I have to pay shipping cost?  I tried to contact support and customer service but no response

Thx

Re: Upgrade to Da Vinci 1.0 Pro

You have to pay shipping if you buy the PRO, you pay for the shipping of it to you.  As far as your older printer, you do not have to pay shipping because you do not have to ship it back; you keep it.  XYZ will cancel any remaining warranty on your older printer, but that's it.
