Topic: Solidoodle 3 Y Axis seizing

Hi, I have been happily printing for years with no problems until this;

The y-axis seizes whenever it moves. The right side moves faster than the left side, or something. There is a great deal of motion available on the right side when the motors are off and when it moves it causes the carriage to go diagonal and get stuck, producing a terrible sound. I've tried doing the realignment from the video and I've been playing with the belt tension for 3 days with no success. Is the carriage supposed to move on one side back and forth like it is? Thanks for any help.

I edit my posts a lot.

Re: Solidoodle 3 Y Axis seizing

Sounds like a loose grub screw on a drive pulley.

Re: Solidoodle 3 Y Axis seizing

On the rear 6mm drive rod that runs across the back.  There are 3 belt pulleys, one that goes to the motor and two others that drive the y belts that run forward to the front.  One of those pulleys has a loose grub screw.  You'll need a 1.5mm hex wrench to tighten it.  You should be able to tell which side is suspect by watching as you move it by hand what side doesn't turn the shaft and motor.
