Topic: Where's the cheat sheet with links to most of the major mods for SD3?

Hi guys. Okay, so I got no bites on trying to find someone to tweak my 3 so, it looks like I am going to do it. I have been away from the forum for a year and would appreciate a quick rundown of the latest must have mods and tweaks. I already have the glass bed, doors, better extruder and fan but maybe there have been improvements like the XY bearings, Z axis rod and such I need to catch up on before I adjust everything.

So, please, what would you suggest I look at? Thanks, amigos. With SD adrift or sinking this is the mothership now.

I think the stickies at the top of this forum cover it? The z-banding (two solutions) and replacement x/y carriages with bearings are the big ones. I agree, however, that it would be nice to know if there's anything "new" that's not stickied. I'm also looking at the firmware update with the hysteresis fix, but not 100% certain that it's going to work for my 4.

Stock SD4 with 3/16" glass attached to stock (kapton-covered) bed with Aquanet.

Lawsy carriages with the LM8UU linear bearings is a big one - also should replace the 8mm smooth rods when doing it - the stock rods wont last long with the bearings.

an E3D hot end is a very worthwhile upgrade as well.

there is a sticky regarding the Z rod "fixes" - I havent needed to do anything there - yet...

and some have gone direct drive on the Y axis - I know there is a big post about that, not sure if it is a sticky tho...

SD4 #1 & #2 - Lawsy carriages, E3D v6, Rumba controller board, mirror bed plate, X motor fan, upgraded PSU & Mica bed heater
SD4 #3 - in the works ~ Folgertech FT-5, rev 1

There are quite a few things in my signature that are worth searching in the forums here. It shouldn't be too difficult to find the walk through for each of them.

SD3 w/ mods:
Glass bed with QU-BD heat pad upgrade, threadless ballscrew w/ 8mm smooth rod, spectra line belt replacement, lawsy MK5 extruder, Lawsy replacement carriage, E3D hotend, Ramps 1.4 w/ reprap discount controller, DRV8825 drivers, 12v 30A PS, Acrylic case, Overkill Y-idlers, Filament alarm, Extruder fan + more.

E3D Volcano- http://www.soliforum.com/topic/8795/e3d … -printing/
E3D Hobb Goblin- http://www.soliforum.com/topic/11465/e3d-hobb-goblin/
Claghorn's direct Y drive- http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:593006

Volcano: Eruption pack recommended. You get several nozzles and since the thermistor is secured differently (no kapton) you may find it easier to start with a new one.
Goblin: Print new tension arm, drop in, adjust EEPROM, tweak tension, enjoy!
Claghorn design: This print is much easier with a Volcano. One crazy user said he cranked on out in 45 minutes.

All 3 are the most gratifying mods I have done over the last year and recommend all.
Good to see you back! smile

Printit Mason and Printit Horizon printers
Multiple SD2s- Bulldog XL, E3D v5/v6/Lite6, Volcano, Hobb Goblin, Titan, .9 motor, Lawsy carriages, direct Y drive, fishing line...the list goes on
Filawinder and Filastruder #1870.....worth every penny!
