Re: Is it possible to use Cura or Simplify 3D with Repetier Firmware?

The CTc is a direct copy of the Flashforge contrary to some thinking it is a makerbot copy. In fact although US made the Flashforge is actually a copy of the Makerbot. But yes they do have the same board. I went with an Azteeg X3 Pro from Panucatt Devices and Marlin firmware.

I knew the Flashforge was a US copy of the Makerbot but understood they shared the same firmware and software!?
From what you are saying, the CTC and the Creator share the same limited mightyboard?

That would be correct. I mean don't get me wrong, it works. It just has limitations I could not live with...
You are also limited to only using ReplicatorG which is obsolete and no longer supported but still around and Makerbot Desktop for your interface and slicing software.. There is also Simplify3d that will interface directly as well but it will cost you 150 bucks as well.

Re: Is it possible to use Cura or Simplify 3D with Repetier Firmware?

ok, thanks for the explanations.

Regarding S3D and my Davinci 1.0 running Repetier FW I found out part of the problem : I'm running S3D on Parallels Desktop on a Mac (just like with Repetier and Mattercontrol) and it just won't communicate with the printer, no matter what.

If I run the OS X version of S3D it connects, no problem.

I will dig a bit more later, it's close to 4am here... Good night!

With S3D did you change extrusion multiplier for PLA material? Mine was set to .90 and I was having issues, ABS is set to 1.0

@ buz make sure you have hardware flow control set to rts/cts or it wont work.
also if after doing that it still doesn't work make sure you flashed your printer with the correct settings

Mine is set to 1.20 for PLA.
I should add that I'm using an E3D hotend.
