Topic: E3D bent heat break

So in between prints the other day I started getting serious filament jams out of no where.   This occurred immediately after a successful print.   Suddenly filament just wouldn't feed.

I broke down my E3D head expecting to find some charred gunk or something but I was surprised to discover my heat break developed a kink.  Just enough to keep the filament for feeding through. ..maybe a few degrees of deflection...

I found a US provider on ebay so replacements arrive today.   The previous one lasted over a year but I don't really want to revisit this issue.

A fluke perhaps?  Can't find any example of this on the forum.
Any ideas why this might happen?  I am occasionally guilty of dragging my hot end over a binder clip.
Any ideas about preventing it?   Considering cutting some plywood to reinforce the joint between the heated block and the heat sink fins.

What is the eBay link? Are you certain they're an authorized distributor?

The solution is to not run your hotend into things. That part of the heat break is thin by necessity in order to limit heat transfer.

Re: E3D bent heat break

i dont know if it is just the lighting, or if that is a brass piece?

if it is brass, you do not have a genuine E3D hot end. a genuine E3D does not use brass for that part.
