Topic: Power problem with stock SD4 printrboard (rev e)
Hello,
I've got an odd issue with powering my SD4. It's always been the case that my SD4 gets powered up (i.e leds light up) only when the printrboard is in its 'right' place, i.e so that the usb and power plugs stick out from the back of the frame. If I've tried to power the printer so that the board is loose, it wouldn't power on, and I've never been able to explain this phenomenon.
I now started a heat bed (pcb) and psu upgrade project, which includes an SSR. And when I started testing the printer after upgrade, I can't seem to get the system powered up. I've since removed the SSR and gone back to the original PSU, but the problem remains. With the folowing exception: I did the mod yesterday, strugled for a bit without getting to work and then gave up. Today I started where I left of yesterday, and the printer would power up for maybe 30 seconds, before cutting power again. And after that, after numerous trials, no sign of life.
I measured the voltage seen by the system, and it explains the problem. With the original PSU, SSR disabled, I measure 12,5V from the barrel connector, but after plugging in and measuring from the power plug on the board, I can only measure 480mV. But I can't really explaing where the current goes, nothing gets hot.
I'm clueless at the moment, so any ideas are very welcome.
