Topic: (SD4) X axis not moving (post carriage upgrade + video)

Greetings,
So I finially had the time to complete my Lawsey Carriage upgrade to my SD4. Also replaced my rods while at it.
My Y seems to move smooth and fine, but my X axis is having problems and not moving. I have seen this problem happen to people before and they seemed to fix it by adjusting the belts. All my belts are tight (but not too tight) and all the same tension and greased. When I turn the motor off, I can move it fine.

Any idea what I can try to fix?

Is your endstop in the correct position, triggered, and is it's wiring connected and correct. If a printer does not home first then you usually cannot move the motor with controls.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!

You say you can move it by hand just fine.  I'm not seeing that in the video and would like you to show us with the motors off.  Seems like something is bound and with the power off the X axis should slide very easily.

Yes the endstop is ok, from what I can see. It can not home. in the pic is where I set my park position, but when I try and run a print it "tries" to home but the X wont move and makes the horrid sound, the Y and Z is ok though.

You say you can move it by hand just fine.  I'm not seeing that in the video and would like you to show us with the motors off.  Seems like something is bound and with the power off the X axis should slide very easily.

Ok looking deeper into what youre saying, I was under the impression that as long as you dont feel grinding or forcing, its ok. But searching more, mines doesnt more as easily as it should. Some said it could be the rod bent, but mines are new. So the next could be my carriages are warped? But its 100% infill ABS and didnt lift or anything.

Or you could have a bad bearing.  You want to test each bearing on the rod it is going to be on.
It should move with little resistance. 
Plan B would be (with motors off) exercise it by hand.  Basically slide it back and forth until it loosens up.  The idea is that with the belts off that carriage should slide as if it was on air.

also, try adding a little light weight oil (3-in-1 or similar) to the rod to lubricate & help the bearings move more easily.

one other potential possibility is that the carriages are not dimensional correct, making the rods too close together/too far apart.

another possibility is that the rods are not perfectly straight. they can bow inward a bit when installing them in the carriage, and that will definitely cause binding. check to make sure the rods are straight with each other

Ahhh mines movements are far from smooth like air. I just bought like $10 bearings off ebay. maybe i shouldnt be so cheap.

Ok ill try oil it up a bit and see how it goes. when I grease it i notice that it just scraps it off and builds up.

Is it possible for the Y rods to do that? but ill check closer if my Y carriages that hold the X rods are bending the X rods.
