Topic: Different sizes while printing the same on 2 printer

Hi to all....
I dicovered a very strange thing: I have a DaVinci AiO and a Replicator Clone. Printing two floors of a model-house I used both printer to speed up to process. Both of the parts have the same size.

When the print was ready, I discovered that one of the parts did not have the size then the other. The part of my replicator clone was about 6% smaller then the part on my DaVinci, which had the right size. Printing with Simplify 3D I used a setup which was the same. Even the print-temparature was the same, since I printed with PLA.

Maybe some of you can explain this. I have no idea. Thank you very much on helping me in this matter.
Take care you all

Different steps per mm would explain that.  Sounds like some calibration is in your future.

Yup, what wardjr said.

even 2 printers of the exact same model will have slight differences due to slight variations in belt tension, and other minor mechanical variances.

Hi, thanks for the answer, but to be honest, I don't know what you mean by steps per mm and how I can calibrate this.
Thanks again

@ heartless, but 6% less, is quite a big number. I would understand it if for 12 by 12 cm the printer prints 11,8 by 11,8 cm.

Re: Different sizes while printing the same on 2 printer

Hi again, I print the parts instead with Simplify 3D with Makerware and with that it has the correct size!  I guess there is a program error in the Simplify 3D-profile for Replicator Dual. I will contact Simplify 3D about it.

Thanks for your help.

Re: Different sizes while printing the same on 2 printer

Its not simplify 3D that is doing it.  Its a mechanical or calibration issue on your printer.  Do a search on calibrating belt tension and steps per mm.   Also, how did you measure it and did you measure several times and take the average?  If you have cheap calipers and measuring a small object, the difference could be just human or random error on your calipers.
