Very interesting.  Maybe they finally go the message.  I wonder what the specs are for it and how the firmware works.

I wonder what the cost and will they still make you use XYZWare out the box? With them not making money off filament Im sure the price will be much more. But I tell you this it can't be over $1k because no one would buy it. So I think they really are in a hard place. They have to prove themselves.

I'm more interested in the scanner, I'm in the market for one just now but the more affordable devices get mixed reviews.

Davinci 1.0 with repetier firmware & E3D V6 Lite
Anycubic Photon DLP printer, Einscan-S 3D scanner
Simplify3d, 123D Design, Meshmixer

Xbox 360 Kinect and Scanect software will cost you 40 bucks and does pretty good scans. Google it.

Printing since 2009 and still love it!
Anycubic 4MAX best $225 ever invested.
Voxelabs Proxima SLA. 6 inch 2k Mono LCD.
Anycubic Predator, massive Delta machine. 450 x 370 print envelope.

I've had a go with the Kinect and while it does a decent job of large objects and people, it's pretty poor with smaller things. It just doesn't have the resolution for it.
Plus, in order to export STLs at a decent resolution, you need to buy the Pro version at about £90.
Having said that, I was thinking about going the Xtion Pro Live/Skanect route. It has a higher scanning res than Kinect apparently.
I'm torn between that and the BQ Ciclop. I might hang off to see how the xyz scanner pans out.
Sorry for getting a bit off-topic.

im going to build one off those plans for fun and see how it goes.  When i get there i will post a thread, im more interested in the project than the scanner but im hoping for half decent results.
